fLYING aVIANCA aIRLINES From New York to COLOMBIA

Hola amigos! Cheers to my first travel blog post! Since I travel so much, I figured it’s time to start sharing my experiences to help you plan your own adventures. Today, I’m kicking things off with a review of my recent flight with Avianca, an airline best known for its affordable fares and extensive routes across Latin America and Central America. Let’s dive in!

Customer Service

The flight attendants were kind and professional. I had limited interactions on my second flight (1.5 hours) since I snoozed through the first one (intentionally).

Comfort

The seats were decently comfortable, though they don’t recline (at least from my memory), and there’s no adjustable headrest. I was running on 2 hours of sleep, therefore I made due with what I had and it worked!

Punctuality

My 6:30 AM flight to Bogotá departed at 7:30 AM, and my 2:19 PM flight left at 2:40 PM. I was asleep as soon as I boarded the first flight, so no complaints there. For the second flight, I caught up on texts, I always buffer in time for my personal and work trips to compensate for delays, etc. However, I recognize this can become slightly annoying if tardiness is normal for Avianca. I'll fly again to see. Updates coming soon. Update! Tardiness is not common for Avianca, I flew from Cartagena to Bogota and the flight was on time. I suspect it was an off day, we all have those right?

Cons

No TVs, but Avianca offers an online portal with free movies and TV shows. The selection is a mix of recent and older films, mostly within the last five years. Flying economy class? Don't expect the standard refreshment and snack, this will come at a cost.

Cost

$708, yea that's a little up there in my opinion! Considering, I've purchased flights to Colombia for $500. However, I must admit that I purchased this ticket 12 days before my trip. Booking in advance will always save you money!

Final Thoughts

Would I recommend Avianca? Yes. It's a good choice for traveling to Central and Latin America, affordable, and you can earn travel points with Star Alliance. Just don't forget to bring your own snacks and book in advance.
Catch you later Amigo <3
